Technical Assistance and Training

Health care providers play a pivotal role in delivering person-centered contraceptive care, as they are tasked with not only giving medical advice and services but also fostering trust, respect, and open communication with their patients. Focusing on health care provider training to enhance their skills in person-centered care is not only crucial but imperative in promoting positive reproductive health outcomes and empowering individuals to make informed choices about their contraceptive needs.

At PCRHP we have developed a number of trainings and technical assistance (TA) projects at the provider, clinic and network level to support delivery of person-centered contraceptive care. Whether you are interested in provider training in person-centered contraceptive care, technical assistance implementing the Self-Identified Need for Contraceptive Services (SINC) screning question, implementing the person-centered contraceptive counseling (PCCC) measure to evaluate patient experience, implementing a series of educational webinars focused on patient-centered contraceptive care, implementing the Contraceptive Care Screening and Use eCQMs to assess contraceptive provision, or something more involved like a 9-month quality improvement learning collaborative informed by the use of the PCCC and the Contraceptive Use eCQMs, PCRHP can work with you to design a training program that meets your needs.

PCRHP has worked with individual clinics, Title X networks, HCCN networks, state initiatives, and others and can scale the work to be delivered in person, virtual, or hybrid. We provide webinars, individual technical assistance, HIT support, personalized reports, and much more.

Below you will find examples of some of our previous TA and Training projects:

Innovating Contraceptive Care in Community Health Centers

Innovating Contraceptive Care in Community Health Centers (CHCs) was a 9-month Quality Improvement Learning Collaborative grounded in racial justice and health equity. Ten CHCs throughout the country participated in monthly group learning sessions, implemented our validated measures (the PCCC and SINC), and used these measures to improve person-centered care. PCRHP provided educational content that was informed by participants, via webinars and a comprehensive web-based curriculum, and individualized technical assistance and support.

PCCC Technical Assistance

PCRHP worked with  Essential Access Health, the Title X grantee in California, to pilot the use of the PCCC at clinics across their network. We facilitated webinars with providers and clinic staff and provided individualized technical assistance. We helped health centers implement data collection and interpret their results through generating detailed reports, interpreting PCCC scores, and brainstorming quality improvement opportunities.

PCCC implementation and webinars

PCRHP is working with RHNTC to conduct a 5-session educational series with 12 Title X health centers throughout the country. Health centers will participate in virtual and in-person learning sessions and implement the PCCC. PCRHP provides 1:1 technical assistance and support, data collection infrastructure, and personalized PCCC reports with disaggregated data. Participants will use their PCCC scores and learnings to identify QI opportunities.

PCCC in Action

Building off a four-agency pilot project, PCRHP is currently working with Massachusetts Department of Public Health, a Title X recipient, to further implement the PCCC with additional health centers. Participating centers receive individual technical assistance and support, data collection infrastructure, and personalized PCCC reports with disaggregated data. In addition, PCRHP is providing learning session focused on person-centered contraceptive care to the broader network.
